TCJA’s annual Gala was held February 20th at the Willoughby Golf Club in Stuart. Guest speaker, Leslie Kroeger, delivered an informative legislative update. Ms. Kroeger is the 2019/2020 President of the Florida Justice Association (FJA), one of the nation’s premier plaintiffs trial associations. She is the second female President in the history of the association.
The Treasure Coast Justice Association ended 2019 with a Holiday Happy Hour at HopCat on December 11th. The event was open to anyone and everyone who brought an item for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County Inc. The turn out was excellent considering the weather. The pouring rain did not stop us from donating lots of items to the Boys & Girls Club, including games, puzzles, and sports equipment.
Ms. Wood gave a useful and interesting presentation on estate and guardianship law as it applies to personal injury matters. Ms. Wood concentrates her practice in Estate Planning and Probate and Trust Administration. She assists clients with all aspects of estate planning, including drafting of simple and complex wills, trusts, living wills and health care surrogate designations, and powers of attorney. In addition, she assists clients with each step of the Probate and Trust Administration process.
Dr. Lawrence Gorfine
Dr. Lawrence Gorfine of Palm Beach Spine & Diagnostic Institute gave an outstanding presentation on Improving Our Understanding of Injury.
Dr. Gorfine is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Board Certified in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Gorfine is Past-Chairman of the Pain Committee of the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, and is Past-President of the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine. He was Director of Pain Medicine, Associate Professor and Fellowship Director of Pain Management at the Medical College of Virginia. As a leader in his field, Dr. Gorfine has over 25 years of experience in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He has lectured and educated both residents and fellows at university medical centers throughout the country.

On March 27, 2019, the TCJA hosted a Q&A with Judge Roby and his Judicial Assistant Beth Hamilton at Cafe Martier in downtown Stuart. The discussion covered courtroom policies and procedures.
